Born in Argentina, Mónica Taragano discovered the
world of arts with her mother, painter Juliana Berger
de Taragano. Her attraction to music manifested itself
very early. After studying the flute in the Conservatorio
Nacional de Buenos Aires in the class of Oscar Piluso,
she went on to perfect her playing with Claudio Barile.
She was awarded various prizes: First Prize of Concurso
Franz Liszt and of Presencias de la Música,
and obtained scholarships from the Fundación
Antorchas and the Fondo Nacional de las Artes.
In 1996 she obtained a grant from the Fundación
Teatro Colón and came to France, where she
worked with Pierre-Yves Artaud. In Europe she participated
in masters-classes with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Aurèle
Nicolet, Irena Grafenauer, György Kurtág,
and Mario Caroli. She was awarded from the UNESCO-Aschberg
program, and obtained the Diplôme Supérieur
of the Ecole Normale de Musique, the Diplôme
d’Etat de flûte traversière and
a Master in Musicology of the University of Paris.
