Born in Argentina, Mónica Taragano discovered the world of arts with her mother, painter Juliana Berger de Taragano. Her attraction to music manifested itself very early. After studying the flute in the Conservatorio Nacional de Buenos Aires in the class of Oscar Piluso, she went on to perfect her playing with Claudio Barile. She was awarded various prizes: First Prize of Concurso Franz Liszt and of Presencias de la Música, and obtained scholarships from the Fundación Antorchas and the Fondo Nacional de las Artes.

In 1996 she obtained a grant from the Fundación Teatro Colón and came to France, where she worked with Pierre-Yves Artaud. In Europe she participated in masters-classes with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Aurèle Nicolet, Irena Grafenauer, György Kurtág, and Mario Caroli. She was awarded from the UNESCO-Aschberg program, and obtained the Diplôme Supérieur of the Ecole Normale de Musique, the Diplôme d’Etat de flûte traversière and a Master in Musicology of the University of Paris.

Mónica Taragano has been flutist in the Orquesta Académica de la Filarmónica de Buenos Aires (Teatro Colón), Orquesta Libertador San Martín, Orchestre de Flûtes Français, Apollo Performing Arts Orchestra (California, USA), Orchestre Ad Lib (Theâtre National de Chaillot, Paris), Orquesta de la Oficina de Música de Curitiba (Brazil).
